The African Americans that served during the segregation still to this day don’t get the recognition that they deserve and it shows when you read through feeds like this and see the comments by folks who never lived through that deep segregated Jim Crow era trying to rationalize why recognition of African American world war II vets don’t matter. In looking at the live coverage yesterday I didn’t think African Americans were part of the celebration. We still being segregated in the celebration as they did back then so sad.

Thank you so much for your service. I am so happy to see someone of color, I knew there was some there, however, did not see any at Normandy on the news. Wonderful story and God Bless him that he is still around to share his story with us. We are blessed because of his service with so many that sacrificed for our life we enjoy today. Thank you for your service, Sir Parham. Wish I lived in your area, I would take you & your wife out today. Thank you, Mr. Parham!! I am proud of you and so grateful for your service to this nation. God bless you sir and thank you for your service as if it was not for you boys we will not be here today. Thank you for your service and all the other African American men that were in the armed forces during World War II my father had to be one of them he was in the Navy and he’s 95 now.
